Word word doesn't have to be boring and left to pencil and paper. I love to incorporate different ways for my students to practice skills on their homework. I send home choice boards with various activities for them to choose from during the week. They pick what they want to do and mom or dad initial and date the activity on their choice board.
Some activities include but are not limited to rainbow writing sight words, write sight words or numbers in flour, salt, or the dirt, find shapes in your house, or sort items in your room or kitchen into 2 or three categories. This week they could practice their sight words by playing Hopscotch. How fun is that! They love moving and it beats sitting at a table or desk to do homework.
Here is one of my precious students, Ariah, playing Sight Word Hopscotch with her mom.
